Joe Square
An exploration of erasure, mysticism, sensuality, magical realism, and the depth of humanity— the Joe Square aesthetic could be described as Adventure Time meets transcendental meditation in the form of a Rorschach test. The colorful and highly expressive body of work insinuates a multitude of meanings, engaging in a perceptual strobelight of satire and sincerity. The bold line-work invokes a childlike simplicity that is essential to the artistic expression.
The meaning of the ART OF LIVING INSIDE OUT is to challenge the psyche to gaze inward to make sense of what is seen. By removing as much unnecessary detail as possible, the aim of the work is to invoke personal projection in the viewer, exploring the the question: how much can be withheld before meaning is lost? And does erasing certain characteristics actually open one up to seeing more of what is there?
Joe Square can be found in the medium of acrylic on wood, the baubles of personal fashion, and unique experiences at the meeting point of technology, fantasy, and art.
